Numerous paints and coatings producers are active in Europe. ECJ has ranked the largest 25 businesses by its revenues, headquartered on the continent.
It has been a race for the top seed in the global coatings industry, lately. Akzo Nobel lost its number one position to PPG last year. Regarding the latest developments, Sherwin-Williams might become the largest coatings producer worldwide, as soon as the acquisition of Valspar is completed. Among the 100 largest paints and coatings of the world are many European-based companies.
Only Coatings relevant sales used for ranking companies
Who are these European companies? The staff of ECJ provides a ranking of the largest coatings producers in Europe, i.e. companies by revenue that have their headqurters on the continent. If not otherwise indicated, the sales were generated in 2015. The fiscal do not end for all companies at the end of the year. As not all companies are exclusively producing paints and coatings, this ranking will not focus on group sales. We have only taken coatings relevant sales into account for our ranking of Europe’s Top 25 paints and coatings producers. All these listed enterprises in our overview stated coatings sales of EUR 100 million or above.
